Had a Morton fan in work enjoying our struggles over the last period. Let's see how he enjoys that ride.

There's not a lot to pillage from Morton so don't know what the score is there .

Good Lord, I don't think I'd wish that on anyone (well, maybe a few). It's like stepping back 4/5 years.

Great player. Talks a good game. Terrible manager.

Neil McCann sacked as Dundee manager. Brendan Rodgers early favourite to take over.

New structure coming for the Eredivisie

It looks like the astro pitches could be going anyway, the players seem to be banding together to try and get rid of them.

They're not doing it entirely out of the kindness of their hearts to be fair. There's a stipulation that the clubs must put the money towards the upkeep of the pitch, including getting rid of artificial pitches and replacing them with grass. Given how much people complain about the artificial pitches in Scotland there could well be some merit in the idea.

New structure coming for the Eredivisie

Apart from dropping 2 teams, I don't see what's different.... The Dutch league already has playoffs for UEFA places and relegation. As for suggestions of spreading out funds - the funds go to the biggest clubs because we draw the most supporters and TV audiences. We also need the funds to compete in European football at a higher level, increasing coefficients. Spreading our already scant TV deal more evenly might well improve the smaller clubs (and I'd be for that to an extent) but there's no way we should be bankrolling the likes of Motherwell or St Johnstone who can bring 5 figure crowds to Hamdpen for semi finals but struggle for more than a few thousand at a regular home game.

Spreading out funds provides a higher quality of football for all. What's the point in being a massive club playing against shite every week? I'd much rather see a strong, exciting league.

If we ever got to a stage where money from Rangers is going to Dundee United, I think I would lose the will to live.

Not for me. Our fans go to games and fund our club, who then invest it to get into Europe. Why should our supporters fund other clubs? When small teams get to finals their fans appear in thousands. It’s up to THEM to fund their team, not us. Always hated the Dutch league and the play off system. Euro places should be decided on your performances over the full season, not a play off.

This is my main point. Scottish football is just far too filled with hate to get this sort of thing sorted. The bitterness and resentment for me will eventually be it's downfall.

It is , but I'm afraid when little clubs vote to try and destroy yours they aren't going to be getting hand outs when we get back in the big playground.

We should definitely be distributing more of the European money throughout the league. A stronger league is better for us all.
  19. Loving this, clubs putting what's best for the game ahead of self interest. Never gonna happen in Scotland.

Money, same reason he's at Celtc. Villa can easily afford to bank roll him too with their new owners.

To be fair to the BBC, Rodgers was asked about it yesterday by Chris McLaughlin on BBC Sportsound. He went on to say how great a club Villa are, top half EPL club etc etc but he's happy at Celtc. He didn't rule it out right away but McLaughlin then asked him "So you'd rule yourself out then?". Rodgers said yes. You can see it here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/45782436

The BBC headline is "Celtc: Brendan Rodgers rules himself out of Aston Villa job". The quote is "you can't rule me out because I have never been asked".

The Rest of Scottish Fitba Thread

The quote I seen attributed to him was something like, “How can I rule myself out of a job I haven’t been officially ruled in to”. Which is completely ridiculous. I imagine he see’s himself as a top tier, EPL manager which he is not. Already seen comments saying he should wait for the Man Utd job...

I don't think he'll leave. Why would he drop down the Championship? He sees himself as a Premier League manager.

Almost everywhere now reporting that Villa will approach Celtc for Rodgers, the BBC going with him ruling himself out though, simply because he said he is enjoying Celtc and has more to do there. Some awful pishy pishy pish reporting going on there.
