How are the groups going to be drawn this year?

Given 16 of the 32 are from ENG, ITA, FRA, GER - is it going to be 2x these per group, or will it be based totally on coefficients so there's a possibility some groups will have 3 teams from these nations, some just 1?

The coefficients are out there and the groupings are almost complete. Below is how the groupings currently stand and I would imagine with country protection in the group stages you won't see any two teams from the one country in a group.

They pots are tasty though, you could end up with the likes of Real, Dortmund, Liverpool and Inter Milan in the one group.

The biggest surprise for me, is that Liverpool are in pot 3, although if Benfica go out tonight, they will jump into Pot 2. Can't believe a team that played the final last season would be ranked below Spurs and Man Utd.

Benfica winning 2-1 away to PAOK (you should see the GK howler), so unless PAOK score another 2 before the end of the game, Liverpool will be in Pot 3 😲

If Liverpool draw Inter or Galatasaray from pot 4 and avoid Loko Moscow,  it will be a contender for a group of death.

Also, WTF is going on in general this calendar year...  Ajax and Red Star back in the mix. Marseille in a final. Rangers on a good run... have I been teleported back to 1992?

Group D is a howler.

Every one of them will believe they can qualify, might make for better games.   I think Group E will be tight as well.

5.55pm and 8pm kick offs in the Champions League. The armchair fan is more important than the ones who go every other week.

I don't like it as an armchair fan. I liked the 8 games at once on by sport. It's too much of a rush to get home and ready for a night in front of the telly, never mind the folk that need to get to the game for 6pm. Why change it?

More money.

Selling advertising on 2 lots of games instead of 1.

Exactly, BT (or whoever) can now have two ‘Premium’ games and the rest on demand rather than 1.

Pure shite, but makes so much business sense.

I didn't realise all the times had changed, so I nearly missed Spurs' game. Wish I had now.
